Paul Deemer

Paul has been a human resources professional for over 30 years. He has worked in local government, the voluntary sector and the health service – with particular experience in the fields of recruitment, employee relations, employment law and diversity. It was whilst working for the charity Barnardo’s that he took on the role of national equality and diversity manager. He then got the opportunity to utilise his experience and knowledge gained in this role when he was seconded into the Department of Health’s equality and diversity team in 2000 to help them develop their national strategy in this area. Paul currently works for NHS Employers – which represents and supports NHS trusts across England, and is helping NHS organisations to embed diversity and inclusion good practice across the NHS.

Paul has studied in the area of human resources for the whole of his career – and most recently was awarded an MSc from Cranfield University in International Human Resource Management. Paul was also awarded a special recognition prize in 2000 by the British Diversity Awards and also the David Harvey Award from the Gay and Lesbian Association of Doctors and Dentists (GLADD) in 2013.

Paul has a particular interest in the areas of emotional intelligence and inclusive leadership and has spoken at numerous events about these and other subjects in his role at NHS Employers.
