Kerry Smith

Kerry joined the British Heart Foundation in October 2013 from the Royal Horticultural Society, where she headed up Human Resources for 8 years and supported transformational change across the Society.

Kerry has over 28 years’ experience in the not for profit sector having lead HR transformations, organisational and business change for staff and volunteers working for United Response, The National Trust and both the University College and Royal Free Hospitals.

As Executive Director of People and Organisational Development, Kerry leads the Directorate responsible for all People matters for the BHF’s 4,500 employees and 20,000 Volunteers. With a clear remit to lead cultural and business change Kerry supports the BHF with its ambition to deliver a World Class Organisation. Recently awarded Top Rated Workplace by Indeed, Kerry has lead significant organisational and digital transformation across the BHF, with initiatives such as implementation of Workday HR & Payroll, Learning & Performance, Smarter Working and being a leading organisation on Health and Wellbeing programmes.

As a fellow of the CIPD Kerry is a judge for the prestigious CIPD Awards and HR Excellence Awards. She was added to HR’s Most Influential in 2018. She is a Trustee of the Charity HR Network and is a regular speaker on topics including the people experience, employee wellbeing, transformational and digital change.
