Trust Alliance Group
As a group of businesses that exists to “build and maintain trust between consumers and businesses”, Trust Alliance Group’s (TAG) corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative stemmed from a “deep commitment to aligning our core business values with tangible social impact”. If it was going to talk the talk, TAG recognised, it had to walk the walk.
It set about launching a set of initiatives responding to the urgent needs of the communities it served, focusing on underrepresented groups, educational disparities and environmental sustainability. In particular, the challenges posed by fuel poverty and educational inequality highlighted the need for a coordinated, long-term CSR strategy that would not only address real needs but also reinforce TAG’s business goals of social responsibility, employee engagement and sustainable growth.
The result was a CSR initiative delivered through a structured approach integrating both grassroots and community engagement and strategic partnerships. Resources were directed towards local partnerships with food banks, schools and community organisations, focusing on issues such as food insecurity and educational access, and TAG collaborated with organisations such as National Energy Action and supported charity Futurestars in Ghana, with a view to addressing issues at local, national and international levels.
Overall, 846 volunteer hours have been logged so far, suggesting a culture of giving back has been fostered organisation wide. TAG has contributed £13,000 to local food banks, raised £5,500 for Futurestars and invested additional funds in upgrading facilities at homelessness charity Room at the Inn. Internal surveys and feedback from employees have revealed a strong sense of pride in participating in the initiative, with 85 per cent of staff reporting that their engagement in CSR activities has enhanced their overall job satisfaction and connection to TAG’s mission.
The PMAs judges were unanimous in their decision to crown TAG the winner of best CSR initiative, saying it “felt like a truly embedded programme”. “If you asked anyone working for them they’d be able to tell you about what it means to them and why they’re proud to work there,” they said, adding that they “look forward to seeing what they do next”.
