Shakil Butt

Shakil Butt has extensive leadership experience and was the Director for Human Resources and Organisational Development at one of the largest global relief and development charities in the UK working in over 40 countries, with a very diverse and culturally rich workforce. The charity went through rapid change and growth during which time he led an award winning team, was shortlisted as HR Director of the year and awarded HR's Most Influential for 4 years consecutively. Originally working as a qualified accountant, Shakil spent his early career in the private sector before later moving into the charitable sector. In 2009 Shakil had a career change and became qualified as a HR professional. 

These two professional disciplines mean that he has a more holistic perspective being adept with the two most important factors in every organisation, its' people and its' financial resources. Shakil particularly enjoys developing managers and is an accredited ACL and ILM trainer as well as being a qualified MBTI practitioner. As a D&I consultant, Shakil has worked with private and public sector organisations supporting them in creating inclusive cultures. Considered a D&I expert, Shakil has worked with senior leadership teams supporting them on their challenges with inclusion running workshops and doing 1-2-1 interviews to establish the base line of organisations. Shakil has delivered training to senior leadership teams but also staff across the hierarchy and has codesigned online resources for the Equality, Diversity, Inclusion Certificate Level 2. 

As a non executive director of the CIPD member, Shakil brings challenge and support to the senior leadership team working strategically, managing risk, compliance and safeguarding the assets of the charity to meets its legal obligations. In addition Shakil is the Honorary Treasurer for the CIPD, chairing the Audit Committee and sits on the Remuneration Committee. Shakil is lecturer in Strategic Human Resource Management and is a regular writer and contributor featuring in a number of HR publications and speaks at HR conferences internationally on various topics ranging from strategic HR to Values. Shakil has reviewed books by leading HR practitioners and sits on a number of judging panels for HR best practice awards.
